Frequently Asked Questions

Here we answer the most common questions about IntegraSpec® ICF — how it works, where it’s used, and what performance you can expect. If we haven’t covered your question, reach out and we’ll gladly help.

Insulating Concrete Formwork (ICF) is a construction method using lightweight EPS panels that form a mould for poured concrete. The forms stay in place, creating a reinforced concrete core with continuous insulation on both sides. It’s strong, fast to build, and energy‑efficient.

Panels lock together to form the wall. Rebar is snapped into place using IntegraSpacers for accurate cover. Once braced, concrete is poured into the forms. After curing, the panels remain as high‑performance insulation inside and out.

  • Fast to install with predictable progress and fewer errors.
  • Robust – reliable pours and a monolithic RC core.
  • Design‑friendly – corners, curves and complex geometry are straightforward.
  • Easy finishing – fixing points suit render, cladding, or brick slips.
  • Energy‑efficient – continuous insulation and reduced thermal bridges.
  • Acoustic comfort – excellent sound reduction.

Homes, apartments, care facilities, schools, hotels and commercial buildings, as well as basements, pools and retaining walls. It’s used across Europe where strength, speed and efficiency are important.

High performance comes from the concrete’s thermal mass and the continuous insulation on both sides, helping maintain stable indoor temperatures with lower energy demand.

Typical wall configurations achieve U‑values down to 0.20 W/m²K, and with EPS inserts can improve to around 0.10 W/m²K.

Yes. Continuous insulation and detailing around junctions and openings minimise heat loss. Independent testing demonstrates lower thermal bridge losses compared with other systems tested in the UK.

Concrete is non‑combustible and provides excellent fire resistance. Depending on core thickness, walls can provide up to three hours’ fire resistance (e.g. 150 mm core).

  • Low waste through modular components and efficient logistics.
  • Recycled or recyclable materials used across components; EPS is free from CFCs/HCFCs.
  • Energy savings from high thermal performance over the building’s life.

IntegraSpec ICF overview

With IntegraSpec ICF, walls are formed using stay‑in‑place EPS panels and patented spacers for rapid setup, precise rebar placement and reliable pours — creating a solid monolithic structure ready for exterior and interior finishes.

The system delivers outstanding thermal performance, acoustic comfort and long‑term resilience while simplifying construction and minimising waste — ideal for high‑performance and low‑energy builds.

As the European distributor, we provide design guidance, trained installers and dependable supply to keep your project moving from concept to completion.

We’re proud to have permission to use and sell IntegraSpec products — enabling the construction of well‑insulated, cost‑effective buildings using durable, low‑waste methods.

How it works

  • Stack and align flippable, reversible EPS panels with purpose‑designed IntegraSpacers.
  • Snap rebar into the spacers to ensure accurate placement and consistent cover.
  • Brace, then place concrete in lifts for a solid, monolithic wall with minimal waste.
  • Finish internally and externally: direct fixings to ties, or apply battens, cladding, render and brick slips.

Key benefits

  • High thermal performance and airtightness for low‑energy buildings.
  • Fast, predictable installation with reduced labour and fewer errors.
  • Superior acoustic comfort and robustness from a reinforced concrete core.
  • Flexible detailing with corners, headers, bucks and clips to simplify complex geometry.
